Getting Around Athens
We want your time in Athens to be as easy & enjoyable as possible
If you’re arriving by plane, the Athens Airport is well connected to the city. The metro runs directly to Syntagma Square in about 40 minutes, while taxis have a fixed rate (€40 by day / €55 at night).
If you’re arriving by sea, the Piraeus Port is just 20–30 minutes from the city centre by metro, bus, or taxi.
Once in the city, you can easily get around by metro, tram, or taxi. We recommend using the FREENOW or Uber apps — it’s the easiest way to book a reliable, cashless ride.
If you’d like to explore the coast or visit beaches a little further away, renting a car gives you more freedom to discover the Athens Riviera at your own pace.
